Set up your family
Start on a parent’s device, then connect a child’s device and check the first learning website together. Menu placement varies by device; these instructions use the English labels.
Before you start
Install Bucket Browser on each device you intend to use. Keep both devices connected to the internet during setup. Have your parent sign-in method and the address of one learning website ready.
1. Sign in as a parent
Follow the welcome screens, or open Settings → Sign in. Choose your usual sign-in provider and complete its prompts. When returning to an existing account, use the same connected login so you reach the correct family.
2. Protect family settings
Follow the parent PIN step. A new PIN uses 4–6 digits; enter it again when asked to confirm. Keep it private. The parent PIN protects family settings; a child’s pairing code is a separate device sign-in code.
3. Create your family and add a child
- Enter your family name and choose Create family in the setup flow.
- Choose Add a child and complete the requested child details.
- If you already have a family, open Settings → Family and select the existing child rather than creating another family.
4. Connect the child’s device
- Select the child and open the device-pairing step, or choose Pair Device from their family member page.
- On the child’s device, choose Join family and enter the code shown on the parent’s device.
- Keep both devices online and check the pairing status on the parent’s device.
Check the validity date shown beside the code. It remains valid until that date unless replaced or revoked, and can sign in more than one device. Creating a new code replaces the previous code for that child. Revoke the code when you no longer need new sign-ins; already signed-in devices stay connected. Keep codes private and out of screenshots or support requests.
5. Choose the first websites
- In Website permissions, select the child and load their current websites.
- Add the learning website address and review whether the rule includes subdomains.
- Wait for the child’s device to apply the setup. If it is waiting for websites, check that you selected the correct child and added a website.
- Open the website on the child’s device and try its sign-in and a lesson with an adult present.
A lesson may use additional login, video or content hosts. Review those individually using the daily use guide. Website credentials are managed by the learning provider.
Before handing over the device
Confirm the child’s name, visible websites and one working lesson. Check the device’s own settings if you need to keep the app on screen: device locking guide. Continue supervising use.
