Troubleshoot accounts, devices and websites

Start with the checks below. Keep the device’s current configuration while investigating so you can describe what happened accurately.

Parent sign-in does not complete

  1. Check the internet connection and try the same provider you normally use for this Bucket Browser account.
  2. Complete the provider’s prompts and return to Bucket Browser when asked.
  3. If you canceled, reopen Sign in and try again. If the same error repeats, record the error text and contact support.

If you see an unexpected family or an empty account, check your sign-in method before creating another family. Do not assume accounts with matching email addresses are interchangeable.

A pairing code is rejected or has expired

Check whether the code was replaced, revoked or passed its displayed validity date. On the parent’s device, select the intended child and choose Create a new device code. Enter it on the child’s device while both devices are online, then check the pairing status. Never use another child’s code to work around an error.

The child is waiting for websites

  1. On the parent’s device, confirm the child has at least one configured website.
  2. Check that pairing completed for that child and device.
  3. Reconnect the child’s device and use the check/retry action shown on its setup screen.

If the app says it cannot confirm the family sign-in, ask the parent to help sign in again. Note the exact message if it repeats.

A lesson, video or website login is blocked

A learning site can use additional hosts. Have a parent review the blocked address, the child’s Websites and Whitelist, and any child or device Blacklist. Blocks take priority. Host rules do not grant access to just one URL path, so review the scope of each change. Save the change where required and test the lesson again on the child’s device.

If the website opens but its own login fails, use the learning provider’s account recovery or support. Bucket Browser cannot reset that provider’s password.

Parent changes are missing on the child’s device

  1. Confirm the change was saved or successfully added, with no error shown.
  2. Check that the parent edited the intended child, and that the child’s device is paired to them.
  3. Keep both devices online and bring the child’s app to the foreground. Check any visible sync or setup status, then retry.
  4. If it persists, record the change, approximate time and status on each device for support.

A change made while a device is offline needs a connection before it can arrive. Verify restrictions on the actual device before relying on them.

You cannot open protected settings

Ask the parent who manages the family to enter the parent PIN. If they no longer have it, contact support for help with the account. Do not send the PIN or delete the account as a troubleshooting step.

The child can leave the app

Website rules and the device’s app-locking settings serve different purposes. Follow the device locking guide for your platform. Review its platform notes before relying on kiosk behavior.

Contact support

Use the support form or email info@bucketbrowser.app. Include the device model, operating system, Bucket Browser version if available, steps taken, expected result, exact error and approximate time. For sync problems, describe both devices.

Remove personal information from screenshots. Never include passwords, parent PINs, pairing codes, sign-in tokens or payment details. You do not need to include a child’s full name to explain the problem.
